"How dare Hasselbeck declare Bush an honorary Seahawk," wrote one. "Who is
Matt speaking for? Bush is no Seahawk. He is the worst president of my lifetime,
and I'm almost 60. Shame on you, Matt."
"To learn that two of the most popular Seahawks are strong (Bush)
supporters ruins the season for me and my family," wrote another
...Added Hasselbeck: "I don't understand. This is America. We're not going
to agree on everything."
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Did he not get the memo? Athletes aren't allowed to have opinions on politics. He should have done something less damaging to his reputation, like cheating on his wife or getting a DUI. At least that wouldn't have ruined the season for fans.

They should've had a dog-fighting fundraiser. Then people would be really ticked.
I think this really shows how politics has become an us/them environment. I hang out with people outside my ideological sphere all the time without much problem. The only time it becomes an issue is when people decide that conversations are competitions and that they need to "win." This only happens in conversations about politics and religion.
I used to hear people say the same thing about people like Hakeem Olajuwan. They liked him until they heard he was Muslim. what the hell does that have to do with rebounds and lay ups? And what does supporting a dim-witted fascist President have to do with throwing or running a football?
Political athletes don't bother me. Traditionally, athletes have made decent politicians. Political celebrities bother me a ton! Who cares who Barbara Streisand or James Woods supports? I don't.
There are only two things James Woods knows about: Math and Poker.
