I know many of my recent posts have been passages from books I have been reading lately. I am an avid reader and always have a book open somwhere in my house (the family room, kitchen, bedroom, and dining room all have books I am currently reading in them now). Lately it just seems some of what I have been reading provide some answers or further perspective into a subject that I am dealing with myself on.
I still have a lot of thoughts rolling around in my head on subject matter I want to post here. Some of that subject matter pertains to some of the passages I have qouted. Others pertain to my Life Group, my Christian walk, and other random musings.
But I cannot escape the fact that I have just been on a roll lately with the books I am currently reading. It is like a drug. I want to read more and more. One of them I actually started over after getting half way through the book.
I know reading isn't for everyone but it is for me, so I encourage anyone to comment on my postings (some already have, and I thank you for that. I appreciate the insight and other thought process you bring to the conversation). I know some of you do not have a "Blogger" user account. No problem, I still accept the emails and talks.
I will also list the books below I am currently reading and would encourage anyone to pick them up at your bookstore or try out your local library. They may have it or be able to get it for you.

Glad to see your digging into Peterson. Christ Plays has got to be one of the best books out there on Christian spirituality. If that isn't the best then Richard Foster's Celebration of Discipline is. You may want to check that out.
Watchman has been talking to me of late about reading something...normal.
He knows I'm an addict of all things church, so he said, "Dude, do something that normal people do..."
So, I'm reading a Star Wars novel and also a novel about 1st century Rome.
He also recommended Dune...my wife says I can't buy it, I have to get it from the library...bummer.
I think I am in your boat Toby. Lately all my reading has been "church reading."
No fiction reading in a long, long time.
I've never been a big fan of history books (my only history book is the Bible!....ok just kidding, did that sound fundy enough?)
"Buiness" books were big with me for awhile, but one day I just figured out how lame they were in reading a 250 page book on common sense. Work hard, lead by example, communicate with your co-workers, be energetic at work, blah, blah, blah. Also, all their "first-hand" accounts and stories fit right to what they were saying.
Anyway, I am sure this current cycle will run out and I will be back to reading all kinds of books of a different nature.
Never the less, reading is something I will always do. My wife will also occasionally drop the "library" word. Buh-hambug I say. I like to write in my books, give them out to friends and family and one day be known as cool because I have a huge library of books I do not remember. That would be awesome!!!!
I appreciate the recommendation as well Corey. I may run out to a Borders and read a couple pages to get a feel for it.
